We find out a lot about Holden through his reactions to and thoughts about Jane Gallagher. What do we discover about Holden’s character? Give 3 specific answers/examples.
He find out that he has feelings for her. Ex- He tries to beat up Stradlater over her. He is scared to talk to her or something of some significance . Ex- He could have went to go see her on the date night but "isnt in the right mood"??? He is capable of acting mature when it comes to people that really matter to him and he can respect girls. Ex- He thinks it is really important that Jane is one of the girls that keeps all of her kings in the back row.
we can figure out that his feelings are more than just friend feelings. He first beats up Stradlater for her. He was really nervous to just go down stairs to the lobby and talk to her. All he does is think about her. Like she will just pop into his mind. And whenever he feels alone, he calls her even in the middle of the night. he just want to talk to her.
Holden is very calm on the surface, but is a tornado inside his head. He has feelings that he cant even explain not only for Gallagher, but about his brother Allie who died. He had a prostitute brought up to his room, who wanted to have sex with him, but he just wanted to talk. This tells me he is waiting for her in a way, and he dosen't want to mess up before he trys to get with her. He then talks about how he and her were playing checkers, then her mom's boyfriend came in drunk, and made a butt out of himself, making her cry. Holden then Holds her, not just to try and kiss her, he really cares for her. Then he is always thinking about her again, attempting to b eat up stradlater like Kinsi and Heather said, but fails. He truly does care about her, and she dosen't even know it.

He is hard headed- even after stradlater beats him up he continues to talk crap to him.
Girls must make him somewhat nervous- he wont even go down and talk to the poor girl
