I think someone is mature when they can not stoop down to other peoples levels and when they can be unselfish and do the most responsible things. I think that someone is mature when they grow out of trying to fit in with a certain crowd and can stop being phony. I think there are too many examples of how someone is mature honestly but i know that if your immature you more than likely to degrade others to make yourself feel better, can be two faced and not care about the consequences of your actions, and you always need to be the center of attention. ETC, ETC... I think you are grown up when you are morally sound and when you can pick the responsible option in a situation versus the one you would rather which may hurt the people around you. I think i can be both.
I believe someone is mature when they truly know the difference between right and wrong without having to be told. When they know what they want in life and will stop at nothing to attain it. Also when they know how to pick their battles, and only fight for what's truly important. Someone considered immature to me is stupid, loud, annoying, or childish. Being grown up to me means thinking less of yourself and more of others. You do your own remembering instead of counting on mom, girlfriend, boss, or other people to remind you. You take the blame for your screw ups and learn from your mistakes so that you don't keep doing it again and again, or better yet, watch what others do and learn from their mistakes too, so that you don't have to make all of them yourself. I believe i land in the middle of being mature and grown up because i know between right and wrong but i still make the same mistakes sometimes.
Being mature to me means that you are not the person who's running down to the cafeteria screaming "lunch!" or try and get out of work because as you mature you grow to appreciate work because one it helps you get higher up in life and two it shows other people that you strive for something better not just for the mundane and blah. Someone who is immature is childish, putting people down and just all around being mean to someone I understand if you don't like someone but you don't have to put them down and disrespect them all the time be the better person. That also has to being grown up the grownup will turn the other cheek and forgive someone it may take a while but they will forgive them eventually and they will not disrespect others despite what they may think of them. I am in the middle of being mature and immature I can be childish at times but the same time I know its best to respect someone.
The dictionary on our laptops define mature as having reached an advanced stage of mental or emotional development characteristic of an adult. Personally I believe that a person is mature when/if they realize "Hey, what I did was wrong." or "Hey I did alright" When you're immature you do things for attention and when you're mature you do things when you know its the right thing to do, or the right time to do it. Grown up means you act older than you are. Mature kinda also means that you understand whats going on in the world around you. I am all three. It all depends on who I am with and what I'm doing. There are just somethings you souldn't say or do in front of your family, but you would do them with friends.
being immature is like laughing when someone farts during a meeting. but being mature is ignoring it during the meeting and laughing about it in the car. but really, being mature is knowing how to handle the things around you at the right time. being immature, you basically lack this ability. And being grown up is like having a job, making money, and growing old and sore to me. you should be able to act young and still be old age. I believe that maturity is like a switch that you can turn on and off. we need to be able to know how to turn this switch on and off.
I believe to be mature it means to be responsible and take credit for your actions rather right or wrong and a mature person knows the difference between the two. Being immature is being irresponsible and ill mannered, not fully understanding what the right thing to do is. I believe I am still an immature kid because although I am growing older I strive to hold on to my childhood due to fear of having to take complete control and responsibilities of the things I used to not worry about.
To be mature in my own opinion, means to be able to act responsibly and have respect for everyone you come in contact with, no matter the situation. To be immature means to be irresponsible and to have an attitude with someone whenever you are around them. To be grown up means to be mature, and to be able to be independent. I, myself, am still a little immature, but am working on being more mature in everything I do.
I think being mature is all about responsibility and handling the consequences of your own actions. It is when the only person you rely on is yourself. Everyone will make mistakes but it is those that can distinguish between right and wrong are the mature ones. Being a grown up is living on your own and making it in life. This is the stage in your life when you don't rely on your Mom and Dad. Many people mature at different ages. I know of many adults in their 30's who are still not mature. Then there are people that are a minor and they are very mature for their age. I would say that I am mature. I'm 18 years old and pretty much take care of myself. I don't know everything, but I believe I have the basics down and understand what I am suppose to do.
