Ok--so let's talk about phonies. What are phonies? Do you know some? Are you one? Talk about an experience you've had with a phony--or a time when you've had to be one.
Phonies are people who act one way but are really something else sort of like hypocrites. I personally know of only one hypocrite but I really don't like talking about them. I personally hope I would not be considered a hypocrite. I have had to be a bit phony because I act one way with certain friends and another with others like for instance I would not act the same around Tiffany as I do around let's say Brett
Phonies are people who put on a false front around people. I know many phonies, only because I think everyone is slightly phony at one point or another. I might be a phony because I act different around different people. One time I've had to be a phony, is when I was at a formal dinner, I had to act all classy, when I'm really not.
Phonies are people that are different then they used to be, whether it be temporary or permanent. I think all of us are phony in a way, because we have all changed and will continue to change throughout life due to certain circumstances.
Holden applies the term “phony” to imply that people are hypocritical. I know of some phonies. I would consider government officials to be phonies because they act like they should be looked upon as a higher rank than anyone else in the world but in reality their just like everyone else, no different.
Phonies...phonies are alot like hypocrites, but to a different degree. Phony people act different around different people, talk bad about someone one second and then be best friends with them the next. I think i know alot of phony people, I am probably phony a lot myself even when i dont try to be. Life is full of phony people, especially high school.

To me i dont think i am a phony. i try to stay true myself and to others. Sure i may act differently to one set of then another set. but thats really because my friends are different then each other. im not changing myself. im just showing my different sides. One can crazier, one is more relaxed and calmer.
First off, thanks Meghan for mentioning me...haha...anyways. Phonies are people who act differently around certain people than they would others. I know I act differently around my two best friends. If I'm with Kevin I'm one way and if I'm with Meghan then I'm another. Meghan's mother thinks i'm this uber hyper person, when in reality I'm sorta mellow and don't like to attract attention to myself. Christina (meghan's mom) just caught me at a time where I was sleep-deprived, hungry, and hadn't taken my medicine.
To be Phony is to be a certian way, or believe other things that you truly do or act by yourself. I think everyone has to be phony sometimes when certain situations come up. The real test though is are you going to be yourself anyway, and realize when you are yourself, the people around you will either be with you, or against you. I would rather have people like and dislike me for ME, not for something else. Its a scary thing to go out there and just be yourself. a bunch of what if"s. but hey, you only have one life, and its short, so live it up and be who you are.

I think that everyone has had to be phony before in their lives, it almost seems impossible to not be. I can say that I feel a time when I am phony is when I am around adults I don't know or I am in a uncomfortable situation. I find that in those cases for me it is hard to be myself.
